Maintaining testosterone levels
Written by Nishant Katoch , Saturday, 29 August 2009 22:21

Okay, so we all want to live a life of abundance; life where we are physically and mentally fit and of course sexually active. The key to this is getting the right ingredients that can raise our hormonal level, namely the testosterone.
Men and Women with high level of testosterone level show more inclination towards a happy sexually active life. Happy sexual life will tend to decrease your stress and keep you in right shape and increase you overall performance.

What exactly is testosterone?
Testosterone is the main male hormone that maintains muscle mass and strength,

fat distribution, bone mass, sperm production, sex drive, and potency.

What does low level of testosterone mean?  Low level of testosterone leads to irritability, weight gain in the wrong places, loss of muscle tone, inadequate erections and poor sexual performance.

How to increase the testosterone levels?

-          Increase calorie intake as Lower-calorie diets are associated with lower testosterone levels. Wait, the idea here is not to let you body eat itself, so provide body with the calorie it need.

-          Studies show that vegetarian diets in comparison to meat leads to lower blood testosterone levels and higher amounts of “inactive” testosterone even when protein intake is the same.

-          Eat foods that have higher levels of saturated fat and zinc.

-          Broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage yields compounds called indoles that help lower certain estrogens, which in turn can help reduce estrogen’s inhibitory effects on testosterone production.

-          A higher ratio of carbs-to-protein – somewhere around 2:1 is best – results in higher testosterone levels.

-          Drinking alcohol and smoking can lead to lower testosterone levels by increasing the conversion of testosterone to estrogen.

-          Waking up late night to watch the porn will reduce you sleeping hours and in turn your testosterone, so decide the trade off, you want virtual or the real stuff.

-          Next day work out like a man.

-          Get yourself sexually stimulated regularly. Not getting sexual stimulated or aroused for long periods of time can actually decrease your testosterone levels.

Okay so what should I be eating to keep the machine running?

-          poultry, beef, fish and pork

-          nuts, seeds, olives,

-          Broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage,

-          egg yolks

-          vitamin C to reduce stress, food rich in zinc
